What I've Learned Since Being Saved...

It's only been 2 years since I've been saved, and I will say that I've experienced and learned a lot about myself as well as my viewpoints on Christianity. So below I'm going to share 3 things that I have learned since coming to Christ. Let's get into it, shall we?

  1. Community is Important

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up.”

Listen, community is extremely important, and on my journey one of my prayers to God was for Him to help me find community and sisters in Christ that I could relate to and walk with. God did not hesitate to answer that prayer. It was through Megan Ashley’s Patreon back in 2024 that I met some girls from Philly, and I was so excited. I was like, God, you really answered me fast. You mean to tell me this is my group of sisters in Christ that I can confide in and praise the Lord with? Everything was really good, our group chat was on fire for the Lord, but after a few months I noticed it would get quiet, and I started to feel like I didn’t fully connect. I wasn’t sure if it was just my own thoughts or the enemy trying to plant seeds of separation, so I prayed for our group chat a few times.

There was even a moment where I brought it up to the girls, and one by one they shared the same feelings about not feeling fully connected or not always knowing what to say in the chat. That right there showed me that the enemy was trying to come against our group, so we got on a call together and prayed. The enemy will try to cause division and distance however he can, so it’s important to pray over your friendships and your community, because a lot can be happening behind the scenes spiritually.

Our friend group is still intact. We may not talk all the time, but we make sure to check in, plan meetups, and keep the Lord at the center of everything. If you haven’t found your community yet, seek God and pray about it. Even when it feels like you’re alone, you’re not. You have Jesus, and the friendships are just a beautiful addition to your walk with Him.

  1. There is Power in Prayer

2 Timothy 1:7 "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind."

God showed me the power in prayer fast. No cap, this is really how I got saved by Jesus. I was deep in New Age occultism and dealing with heavy spiritual warfare and demonic oppression for years. It got to a point where I was just tired. I didn’t even realize at the time that it was God’s perfect timing to pull me out of something that had me in serious bondage. I even went to a shaman trying to get help with what I thought were “spirit guides” and attacks, and for a moment it felt like there was some kind of peace. But it didn’t last.

I was hearing voices at night and throughout the day, and it started to make me feel like I was losing my mind. I kept thinking, how is this happening when I’m a psychic medium and hearing voices was something I was used to? Why do I suddenly feel schizophrenic and borderline suicidal? That’s when I knew something wasn’t right. I said no, something has to change immediately because this isn’t it. The shaman gave temporary relief, but it wasn’t enough. Then God put it on my heart to look up prayers. I had never even thought to do that before. I started watching YouTube videos with priests praying over homes and listening to nighttime prayers to fight what I was dealing with. The voices were still there, still trying to torment me and tell me it didn’t matter, but I kept going anyway.

Every night I listened to those prayers, and then I came across the Atomic Warfare prayer by Cindy Trimm. It was long, but I stuck with it. Eventually I found the full prayer online and started praying it day and night. And I’m telling you, the voices started to fade. I felt a real shift. I felt lighter, happier, more at peace. That’s when it really hit me, God is real. Deep down I knew I was a prayer warrior. Even when the enemy tried to get me to stop praying, I refused. And I’m never going to stop.

Prayer brought me freedom. It literally pulled me out of New Age occultism. Reading the Bible, learning God’s word, and going through deliverance all played a huge role too, but God really showed up for me through prayer. So if you ever doubt what God can do through prayer, don’t. God will move on your behalf. All it took for me was faith the size of a mustard seed and patience, and God started knocking those walls down. Those strongholds didn’t stand a chance against my God. So keep your faith and never stop praying.

  1. Your walk with Christ is not Linear

Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV) “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Please don’t get it twisted, your walk with Christ is not linear. And don’t think you have everything under control most of the time either. What I’ve learned is that on this journey, God will continue to prune you. The sanctification process will bring up things you thought you already dealt with, and then you realize you didn’t actually heal, you just put a band aid over it. Now God is calling you to truly heal, and He will make sure that you do.

We don’t call Him Abba Father for no reason, Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals. He will take you through it, and when you come out on the other side, you’ll be grateful He did, because your old ways of handling pain won’t work anymore. God is a problem solver, and He will teach you how to face things in a healthier way. For me, I had to face the reality that a lot of my childhood trauma came from the chaos in my parents’ relationship, and from not fully understanding my mom. I had to come to terms with the fact that she was carrying her own pain and projecting it onto others, including me, her sisters, my dad, and my brother. God rest their souls. But through God, I realized I didn’t have to carry that anymore, and I also needed to forgive her.

If there’s anything I really want you to take from this, it’s that forgiveness is your key to freedom. God wants you free from the wounds others placed on you, and even the ones you placed on yourself. There’s no judgment here, but forgiving others and forgiving yourself is what allows real healing to happen. It also closes the door to the enemy. The enemy loves to use pain, pride, and ego to keep hurt going and to keep division alive. They don’t want peace, they want all the drama to keep happening in your life. But you don’t need that. You need peace, and Jesus’ peace surpasses all understanding.

Philippians 4:7 (ESV) “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Let God do a work in you. Let Him heal you, help you forgive the people who hurt you, and don’t forget to forgive yourself too. You need that freedom, and you need that door closed so God can open new ones for you, ones that bring healthier relationships and a renewed mindset. And to be real, not every relationship will be restored, and that’s okay. Ask God to help you understand that and to give you peace with it. Sometimes a door needs to be closed for good, and sometimes it’s just for a season while He works on the other person. We don’t always understand His plan, but you can trust that He knows what’s best for you and everyone involved.
